Milford Rotary North Shore Intermediate Schools Speech Competition
Jamie Schumacher and Antonia Towers participated in the Preliminaries for the Milford Rotary North Shore Intermediate Schools Speech Competition. It was a strong field of 15 competitors. Both MBIS students made it into the final 6, something that hasn't happened for a few years. The Finals of the Speech Competition took place in September.
Both Jamie and Antonia spoke really well. Antonia was the overall winner with her speech "All genders should receive an education" and received the Gordon McGhie Memorial Trophy (donated many years ago by Mr McGhie's father!) as well as book vouchers for herself and for the school.
Jamie as a runner up won a book voucher with his speech about why video games are good for you.
Antonia also won the shield for the school. MBIS has only won this trophy twice in over 30 years, the last time being 1999.
