Zone Days/Sport Teams Murrays Bay Intermediate School takes part in all Intermediate Zone Sport Days. These take place throughout the year where we compete with teams in the North Harbour area. Teams in a variety of sports participate in ongoing after school sports competitions. Students joining sports teams are required to attend practices regularly. MBIS teams traditionally achieve notable successes and this is achieved by the commitment of students, staff and parent support. We seek parent coaches and managers for teams in several sports.
Sports Camp and NZAIMS Each year the school sends teams to the Matamata Sports Camp and the NZAIMS Sports Tournament in Tauranga. The sports camp is an opportunity for students to compete in a wide range of sports against students from other intermediate schools. The NZAIMS Sports Tournament is an opportunity for our top sports people to compete both individually and in team sports against other intermediate schools from throughout New Zealand. School Gymnasium The school has a modern well equipped Gymnasium that features full sized netball, basketball and volleyball courts as well as four badminton courts. There is also a well-equipped fitness room that is used by selected students.
High Performance Sports Group Talented sports people may apply to be part of the High Performance Sports group. This group trains in the week, in the gymnasium using a high performance programme. Membership of this group is by application and students are chosen after a selection process.
